Goodyear FG-1D Corsair BuNo 88382 entered service in April of 1945 and served with VBF-14 aboard the USS Intrepid while stationed at Hawaii until November of 1945. She was the victim of a mid-air collision in July 1950 over Lake Washington while serving with NAS Sandpoint - Seattle, WA. After a successful ditch, the Corsair sank and rested in cold, fresh water until the efforts of USMC Maj. Herb Valentine and salvage expert Gary Larkins led to her recovery in August of 1983.  BuNo 88382 was packed up and shipped to Airpower Unlimited in Jerome, ID for static rebuild.  In 1992 the finished machine wearing Navy colors "S 89" was shipped to the Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA where she remains on display to this day
